It brings great memories of listening to the race |
| In 1948, at age 13, I was already into racing and the Blue Crowns were my favorites. I remember listening to the race on my dads Zenith Trans-Oceanic portable radio at about 50 pounds!. This is the first of Replicarz Indy winners in 1/18th scale I gotten, although I have a few of the 1/43rd versions. This one has me convinced Ill get more. The details are well done and just right. The metal-essence blue paint is perfect as are the graphics, especially the small decals on the sides and the Firestone Deluxe Champion white lettering on the tires. And the model has an innovative hinged latch system on the hood latches that makes it easy and safe to release the hood to display the well-detailed engine.
I currently have this model on display with some CMC Ferraris and the Maserati 250F. One of the things that stands out to contrast the cars of two eras is the size of the wheels and tires on this Blue Crown car. I was amazed at how large the wheels and tires were in the 1950s. Because of this, Im planning to add more 1/18th Indy cars so they can be displayed with cars of their own time. This one, at least, deserves its own special place. |

| I received my 1948 winner and am so impressed. It is so correct in detail. I saw Mauri Rose in a similar car in 1949 at Indy. He wrecked in front of me and my father in the southwest turn.. Maybe the same car. |
