About this very special release:
For the 2026 Classic Gala in Schwetzingen, CMC is bringing this automotive icon to life on wheels in a very limited edition in 1:18. Only 300 pieces produced. Due to the extraordinarily successful racing performance of the 300 SL Gullwing and pressure from U.S. importer Max Hoffmann for a more comfortable successor, production switched to the Roadster in 1957; by 1963, the open-top car had been built 1,858 times. The 300 SL was considered the fastest production sports car of its time; furthermore, it featured numerous innovations, such as power brakes, and later the use of disk brakes, direct gasoline injection, dry-sump lubrication, and the option to order seat belts. The 300 SL Roadster enjoyed success not only as a luxurious cruiser but also as a true race car, just like our red roadster with the legendary license plate S-EE 660, with which Eberhard Mahle finished second in the GT class over 1,600 ccm at the 1961 Pferdsfeld Race.
